Soft waxing
Soft wax, aka strip waxing, is used by applying a thin layer of warm body wax on top of the skin. This is typically used on more extensive regions of the body, like your arms and legs. First, it is applied directly onto the skin using either a wooden stick or a roller. Then a strip of cloth is placed over it and yanked off, removing hair. Soft types of wax get to the tiny, fine hair strands that you can’t see, leaving you with smooth skin.
Hard waxing
Hardbody wax is typically used for smaller, more sensitive areas, including the upper lip, underarms, and bikini area. This type of body wax is applied warm, directly onto the skin. It is provided time to cool and then harden and pull off in the opposite direction of the hair growth. An advantage of hard types of wax is that they only bind to the hair, never the skin. As a result, the process tends to be less painful than soft body wax and can be applied multiple times, with no damage to the skin.
Fruit waxing
Fruit body wax functions just like hard body wax and is suggested for sensitive skin. It comes packed with fruit extracts like berries and plum, which indicates these types of wax are antioxidant-rich and include vitamins that nourish the skin. Plus, they’re a lot more delicate on the skin than basic soft body wax and, thus, can also be costlier.
Chocolate waxing
Chocolate wax is another prevalent option available at most salons. It capitalises on the skin benefits of chocolate, which is rich in antioxidants and less painful to use as compared to other body wax variants. Chocolate body wax also includes glycerine and oils like soybean and almond and is anti-inflammatory, making it the perfect choice for skin prone to redness.
Sugar waxing
Sugar wax is a natural and gentle alternative to traditional hard & soft body wax. It is made with sugar, lemon, and hot water to achieve the perfect consistency. Sugar pulls the root of the hair out of the skin, which increases effectiveness. For removal, the hair should be at least a quarter of an inch long for the gel to stick, so remember that before heading to the salon or attempting it yourself at home.
Less regrowth
The best-known advantage of waxing is that the hair doesn’t grow back very quickly. This is because waxing removes the hairs from the root. It doesn’t matter how close you shave with shaving due to the considerable amount of hair just below the surface. Hair grows back – and can be seen a day or two later.
Finer regrowth
It’s not just about the amount of regrowth you’ll experience; it’s determining what type of regrowth you’ll experience. With waxing, the hair is removed from the follicle. This means that when the hair regrows, it does so with a finely tapered end. This end is more delicate and not stubbly, meaning that even while waiting for your next wax, your skin won’t feel as hairy as it would do post-shaving.
Waxing is like exfoliation
Dead skin cells and grime can build up on our skin and cause outbreaks, blemishes, or dryness. The reason why we exfoliate is to remove this build-up. All of this is removed for you as part of the process with waxing. The result is that the waxed area is smooth, radiant, clean, and fresh.
Waxing banishes shaving rash
Shaving rash is the inflammation of the skin caused by irritation. If you’re prone to shaving rashes, then one of the leading hot wax benefits is that you should be able to avoid it altogether. With waxing, you can prevent this for over a month at a time giving your skin a chance to calm down.
Fewer ingrown hairs
Shaving can be a nightmare for many people who might end up with ingrown hairs. Ingrown hairs can be painful and unsightly. Worst case scenario, you can develop an ingrown hair infection which can lead to permanent scarring. A professional waxing specialist will ensure they remove the wax strips in the best way to reduce the risk of ingrown hairs.
Waxing says goodbye to itching
Many people find that immediately post-shave, they experience itching. As soon as regrowth starts, the itching ramps up again. With waxing, you’ll experience the quick sting and a subsequent prickle, but then you should be itch-free for longer.
Waxing means no more shaving cuts
You may have had 20+ years of experience shaving your legs and still somehow nick your ankle with the razor. It’s not too surprising as you need a lather for a clean shave which means you, your hands, and the razor are all slippery! A professional waxing treatment won’t result in nicks, cuts, or any skin damage.
